June 30, 2026 — Medicine is a constantly evolving field, with new treatments, technologies and techniques aiming to make patients’ most challenging days better. For the healthcare teams behind it all, University of Florida experts have created Knowledgebase, a free, one-stop resource hub centralizing the tools busy health professionals need to conduct their own quality improvement initiatives. 

Built in collaboration between the UF College of Medicine Quality and Patient Safety initiative, or QPSi, and the UF College of Education, Knowledgebase’s online resources are now available to any healthcare professional or trainee working in Florida, including nurses, physicians, physician assistants, administrators, residents and students.

“What we aim to do is put all of this at the fingertips of clinicians and learners so they can embark on doing this important quality improvement work,” said Nila Radhakrishnan, M.D., a professor, chief of the Division of Hospital Medicine in the Department of Medicine and assistant dean for quality and safety applications with QPSi. “Sometimes, the barrier can be structure or how to get started. Our hope is that with Knowledgebase, we’re making it easier.” 

Knowledgebase features over 400 learning tools, all free for any user. From practical how-to guides to downloadable templates, artificial intelligence training and real-world case studies, the materials are bite-sized and highly customizable, allowing individuals to proceed at their own pace and select the content most useful for their practice and education. An expanding library of learning pathways will also provide opportunities for continuing medical education credits. 

A small percentage of the resources — those containing proprietary data — are limited to UF and UF Health users with an active Gatorlink login. And coming soon, Gators will also have access to ConneQtor, UF Health’s quality improvement project planning and intake platform, where Knowledgebase will be automatically integrated to assist faculty, staff, trainees and health professions students with their quality improvement projects.

Michele Lossius, M.D. ’03, FAAP, a UF College of Medicine professor, chief of the Division of Hospital Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics and the associate dean for professional excellence and faculty development, is one of the quality and safety subject matter experts who helped develop Knowledgebase. Her page, the “Quality Improvement Promotion Journey,”  traces the arc of a quality improvement career from the spark of a first project through patient impact, measurable outcomes and the strategies that turn sustained work into professional advancement. 

On the page, she shares her own journey and actionable advice in a series of short video clips, each under 10 minutes. Written descriptions accompany each video, outlining the lessons for any users who prefer to learn by reading rather than watching or listening. A fillable quality portfolio form is also available, providing a structured framework for clinicians and students to apply what they learned in real time. 

“It is really impressive to see this vision in action,” Lossius said. “Knowledgebase is a phenomenal resource that people need to know is available. At the end of the day in healthcare, we all recognize the greatest impact is to the patient, and we all want them to do well. We don’t compete on safety. We share all that expertise with the community, collated in one place.”
