July 18, 2025 — Medicine is constantly evolving as professionals learn new information about the science behind treatments and better ways to care for patients. It can be challenging to keep up with the amount of data captured through every patient interaction and equipment.

At the University of Florida College of Medicine, clinicians and scientists are combining their expertise with artificial intelligence to make strides in the realm of patient safety and quality improvement. More than a dozen new, free courses from the college’s Quality and Patient Safety initiative are now open for registration, including several that specialize in how to adapt AI for use in medicine.

The online courses are designed for health care professionals, students and trainees interested in deepening their expertise in quality improvement. They can be completed on-demand to accommodate fast-paced schedules and are available for continuing medical education credit.

These courses delve into topics such as how AI will impact health care, fundamental AI terminology, programming basics and more.
