UF Medicine students, residents and faculty inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha
Alpha Omega Alpha is a national medical honor society committed to leadership

April 15, 2025 – Forty-five of the University of Florida College of Medicine’s elite students, residents and faculty were elected for lifelong membership into a prestigious national organization, the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, in an annual banquet March 20.
Since the society’s establishment in 1902, over 200,000 physicians and medical students have been inducted from medical schools across the country. The UF Beta Chapter was established in 1960 and was the 85th local chapter to be chartered.
For students, membership is limited to those who have excelled in academics, leadership, scholarship, character, service and shown outstanding future potential as a physician. Only one-fifth of the total class enrollment may be chosen, and the final determination is held by vote from faculty and student members.
Guided by the principle that its members should “be worthy to serve the suffering” and dedicated to improving care for all, the society recognizes high educational achievement, honoring gifted teaching, encouraging the development of leaders in academia and the community, supporting the ideals of humanism and promoting service to others.
