Sept. 4, 2024 – Excitement and curiosity fill the University of Florida College of Medicine community, and it is time to celebrate all the college’s incredible Gators and achievements! During the inaugural UF College of Medicine Week from Sept. 23-27, events will recognize faculty, staff, students, and trainees.
Postdoc Ice Cream Social
Take a break from the Florida heat! On Friday, Sept. 20, in conjunction with Postdoc Appreciation Week, the College of Medicine and BZ Gelati will provide free ice cream to postdocs from 1-3 p.m. at the ARB Courtyard.
Staff Appreciation Events
Join us as we celebrate our exceptional staff who make the College of Medicine a special place. Staff appreciation events will be held by work location, listed below:
- Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute: Sept. 23, 8-9 a.m., 3rd floor conference room

State of the College
On Tuesday, Sept. 24, Interim Dean Jennifer Hunt, M.D., M.Ed., will highlight the college’s achievements over the past year and chart the path forward. This event will take place from 7-8 a.m. at HMEB 135 and on Zoom. In-person attendance is open to all and available via RSVP on a first-come, first-served basis, with breakfast provided at the in-person event. RSVP for the in-person event online here.
Celebration of Faculty Promotion and Tenure
Our promoted and tenured faculty will be recognized Wednesday, Sept. 25, from 5:30-7 p.m. in HMEB 135, in a ceremony honoring those who have achieved promotion to the rank of associate, full, or distinguished professor, or have been awarded emeritus status. A livestream will be available.
Orange and Brew
On the last day of our weeklong celebration, Interim Dean Hunt will join Opus’ Nitro Cold Brew truck to meet with students, postdocs, residents, and fellows and offer a complimentary 16-ounce cold brew or iced tea to celebrate the new academic year. The truck will be at the HMEB circle from 7:30-8:30 a.m. Sept. 27.
Housestaff Gym Preview
Come blow off some steam at the newest gym on campus! College of Medicine residents and fellows are invited to preview the new Housestaff Gym Friday, Sept. 27, at 12:30 p.m. on the ground floor of the MSB. The space will be opening soon.
