Meet the College of Medicine’s canine companions

Students, faculty, and staff celebrate International Dog Day

Aug. 26, 2024 — As any dog parents will tell you, furry best friends bring countless physical and mental health benefits, whether it’s emotional support or helping detect cancer in their owners. For International Dog Day, we asked members of the University of Florida College of Medicine community to introduce us to their pets. Join us in celebrating these incredible companions, from Luna to Kona, below.

Alex Fernandez is a senior advertising student who transferred to the University of Florida after earning her AA degree from Santa Fe College. During her first year at UF, she was a marketing director for the Inter-Residential Hall Association, the student housing government. During her senior year, Alex plans to share her passion for social media management and content creation through her internship with the College of Medicine, her public relations job at Florida 4-H, and clubs such as ChomPics Productions.
