Thanksgiving 2021: What the College of Medicine is grateful for in their own words
Three members of the UF College of Medicine community reflect on what they are grateful for this Thanksgiving.
Nov. 23, 2021 — While students, staff and faculty at the UF College of Medicine are constantly busy learning about health care practices, caring for patients and making research innovations, it’s important to take some time to think about the pieces of our lives that make each day special and memorable.
Hear from a few colleagues who shared what they are thankful for this Thanksgiving:
“I’m thankful for my support system of friends and family around me, especially this year. As a third-year medical student, I’m caring for patients for the first time, and doing that makes you feel really thankful for life and appreciative of having the opportunity to care for others by working in the medical field.”
— Michelot Michel, third-year medical student
“I am thankful for my friends, family and classmates. I’m also thankful to have the time to appreciate what I have in my life right now as I continue my studies and prepare to join the medical field.”
— CJ Arcalas, second-year medical student
“I’m thankful for my baby boy, Jarobi, who was born in the past year and is healthy, along with all my friends and family. I’m also thankful to work in the Office of Student Affairs under Dr. Collins’ leadership. Her guidance has been instrumental in helping us improve the lives of students beyond the classroom.”
— Jerell Blackburn, office manager for College of Medicine Office of Student Affairs
