2017 Honors Convocation
UF College of Medicine students receive awards for service and merit at this year's Honors Convocation
Sept. 19, 2017 — During a ceremony held in the George T. Harrell, M.D., Medical Education Building Monday afternoon, associate dean for student affairs Patrick Duff, M.D., presented students with awards and scholarships celebrating their academic achievement and commitment to service. Student awards range from International Medical Service Awards, which recognize those who have served as group leaders on international medical outreach trips, to the Medical Guild Merit Awards, which are given to third-year students who received the highest scores on the USMLE Step 1 examinations.
“At the Honors Convocation, we honor not just senior students, but also second- and third-year students for outstanding scholastic performance, outstanding research and outstanding service to the community, the UF College of Medicine and class,” Duff said. “Some of the awards are based on criteria specified by donors. Others, specifically the memorial awards, are based on nominations from peers.”
