We’re introducing new technology to help clinical care staff share protected health information with safe, secure and simple tools. The two new messaging tools are Spok Web and Spok Mobile, a smartphone mobile app. The system is intended to replace pagers and any other messaging tools.
Spok Web is an easily accessible mass communication and messaging tool that allows UF Health faculty and staff to search for and securely message clinicians in our health care system. It will be used by faculty and staff who participate in on-call groups, receive or activate emergency alerts or oversee any group messaging.
CHRIS is currently used for this functionality — Spok will replace these portions of CHRIS on Dec. 8.
Spok Mobile will be used by UF Health Shands, UF Health Physicians and UF College of Medicine credentialed care providers. Installed on your personal smartphone, Spok Mobile is a HIPPA-compliant system that allows you to securely relay patient health information.
Secure your mobile device by setting a device-level PIN code to ensure your messages are for your eyes only.
We’re asking UF Health Shands, UF Health Physicians and UF College of Medicine credentialed care providers to download Spok Mobile on their smartphones. Open enrollment is Nov. 16-20 (see tabling information and dates below).
Please visit help.spok.ufhealth.org to learn how to install Spok Mobile and how to use Spok Web.
If you need help before Dec. 8, please email spok@shands.ufl.edu. After the go-live date, you can call UF Health IT at 352-265-0526 for support.
