In August, the Shands at UF North Tower retail food court will begin its three-phase renovation project.
Plans include a revamped dining area; high-speed, credit-card-capable registers; a sushi station; an Austin Grill Tex Mex station; and an Italian station.
The project will begin with construction of a wall around conference room 1202.4 in the cafeteria, creating a temporary space for the faculty dining area. Another wall will be built around the current faculty dining space, and renovations will occur behind that wall for new venues.
Lastly, a wall will be built around the last two cashier stations, behind which a classic cuisine and exhibition station will be constructed. The existing food court will remain open during the renovation.
In addition to the new venues, a convenience store will open, offering snacks, grab-and-go items and more.
The Food and Nutrition Services team expects the renovation to be completed by the end of December.
