Gators' Doc Honored

Dr. Pete Indelicato

It is an award-winning spring for Dr. Peter Indelicato from the department of orthpaedics and rehabilitation. He was named the 2007 Sports Medicine Person of the Year by the Athletic Trainers Association of Florida, and he also received the Gold Medal Distinguished Alumni Award from his alma mater New York Medical College. Indelicato will be receiving the ATAF award at its annual meeting on April 26, 2008 in Orlando, Florida. The award is given to the sports medicine professional, regardless of the field, who has demonstrated an outstanding dedication to the athletic trainers of the state of Florida throughout the year.

Florida Gators Championship Rings presented to head team physician, Dr. Pete Indelicato

Indelicato, the Wayne Huizenga Professor of Sports Medicine, is the head team physician for the UF Athletic Association and division chief of sports medicine. He has spent the last 30 years as a doctor to Gator athletes. He also served as a team physician for the Miami Dolphins for nine years and currently is one of their consulting physicians. In 2003, Indelicato was named SEC Doctor of the Year.
