Reminder about patient parking vouchers at UF Health

Facilitating patient parking is instrumental to improved patient access to our hospitals.

April 7, 2017 Our goal is to provide patients with the best possible care and positive experience. On the Archer Road health campus, several years ago we took a major step in that direction by providing free patient parking. Facilitating patient parking is instrumental to improved patient access and convenience to our hospitals and on-site outpatient services.

Offering free patient parking is a strategic decision and the right thing to do. However, it comes at a considerable cost to the organization. With the reality of limited parking space on the main campus, our priority must be to our patients and visitors.

Faculty and staff parking garages and lots are offered in several locations on campus. Unfortunately, some staff have inappropriately obtained and/or used free patient parking vouchers for their own purposes. Please know that disciplinary action may be taken for serious violations when staff members misuse the parking voucher system.

When members of our workforce abuse the parking system by taking patient parking vouchers for their own use, they compromise valuable access by patients and families. In addition, each voucher has a defined monetary value and we consider misuse of the vouchers a serious theft.

Faculty, residents, staff and volunteers must not use patient parking vouchers for their own use, unless they are an on-site patient themselves when they use the voucher.

You can purchase campus parking decals from UF Transportation and Parking services at http://parking.ufl.edu/.

Thank you for your attention to this serious matter. With quality care, hospitality and service foremost in our minds, we must give our patients and their loved ones the priority and convenience of easily accessible parking.
