NBA star Corey Brewer to host youth basketball camp

Gator basketball legend Corey Brewer to host third annual basketball camp in Gainesville Aug. 6-8

Gator basketball legend and Denver Nuggets forward Corey Brewer will host his third annual basketball camp in Gainesville Aug. 6-8.

Sponsored by Five Star Basketball Camps, the Corey Brewer Back-to-Back Youth Basketball Camp will include lectures, basketball drills, games and education sessions led by Brewer and other Five Star coaches.

“It has been fun to watch some of the kids develop their skills from year to year,” Brewer said. “I truly enjoy giving back to the community that has given me so much.”

Brewer’s proceeds from the camp will be donated to UF&Shands, the University of Florida Academic Health Center. He created the Corey Brewer Fight Diabetes Fund to provide funds for diabetes patient program and to help raise awareness of the disease. Brewer’s father, Ellis, died last year of complications from diabetes at the age of 68.

The camp is open to girls and boys ages 9-17. Daily activities begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. at the Rock School.
