UF’s senior medical class honored James Lynch, M.D., a professor of medicine in the division of hematology and oncology, with the 2008 Hippocratic Award April 25.

Each year, UF’s graduating medical students select the professor they feel best models the qualities of a good, compassionate physician and teacher. The distinction, established in 1969, is generally considered one of the highest honors in the college. With this year’s award, Lynch joins a select trio of UF medical professors —Patrick Duff, M.D., the late Hugh Hill, M.D., and Gene Ryerson, M.D. — who have received the honor three times.
